What's the best local product to kill bathroom black mold?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing more than usual, and I think it's from the black mold growing in the grout between our bathroom tiles. We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed it creeping up the wall behind the toilet, probably from all the humidity. I wipe it down but it just comes back darker. What's the most effective product I can find locally to kill this for good?

Based on the symptoms you've described and the persistent nature of the mold, I strongly recommend you stop attempting to clean it yourself. The recurrent, darker growth and the associated coughing in your children are significant red flags. In the UAE's humid climate, what you see on the grout is often just the surface manifestation; the actual fungal structure (hyphae) can penetrate deep into the porous grout and even behind the tiles, which DIY products cannot reach.

While local supermarkets sell bleach-based cleaners, these are highly ineffective for a chronic problem. They only remove the surface pigmentation (the black color) but leave the root structure intact, allowing it to return stronger. Furthermore, improper use of bleach can release harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into your bathroom's air, potentially exacerbating respiratory issues.

For a problem of this duration and with health symptoms present, a professional assessment is critical. Our certified mold inspectors use moisture meters and borescopes to determine the moisture source and extent of growth behind the walls. The remediation process we employ at Saniservice involves advanced, EPA-approved antimicrobial solutions that penetrate materials to destroy the mold at its root, followed by sealing to prevent recurrence, all conducted under containment to prevent cross-contamination.

Given the health of your family is at stake, I urge you to get a professional evaluation. Please call us at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com for a comprehensive inspection and a permanent solution.
