What's the best mold remover for showers in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing more than usual and I finally traced it to this black and green mold that's taken over the grout between the tiles in our master bathroom shower. It's been extra humid lately and I think the ventilation just isn't cutting it. What's the most effective and safe product I can find here in Dubai to kill this for good and keep it from coming back?

For persistent mold in Dubai's humid climate, start with a concentrated hydrogen peroxide-based cleaner (look for 3-5% concentration) or a chlorine-based bleach solution diluted 1:4 with water. These are widely available at supermarkets like Carrefour or ACE Hardware. Apply it directly to the grout, let it sit for 10-15 minutes without drying out, then scrub with a stiff brush.

The key to keeping it from returning is addressing the humidity. Run your bathroom exhaust fan for at least 30 minutes after every shower. If the fan is weak or you don't have one, installing a more powerful model is a worthwhile investment. Wiping down shower walls with a squeegee after use removes the moisture mold needs to grow.

If the mold is extensive, has penetrated behind the tiles, or the coughing persists even after cleaning, the spores may have spread into the room's air. In such cases, a professional inspection can identify the mold type and the full extent of the problem, which is crucial for a long-term solution, especially with children in the home.
