What's the best UAE product to remove bathroom mold« Back to Previous Page

The grout between the tiles in my master bathroom in Jumeirah has started turning black, especially behind the toilet where it’s a bit darker. I first spotted a few spots a couple of weeks ago, but after the recent humidity, it’s spread really quickly along the base of the shower. What’s the most effective and safe product I can buy here in the UAE to kill this and stop it from coming back?

Black mould in bathroom grout is common in Dubai due to high humidity and condensation from year-round AC use. For a small, surface-level issue, a simple mix of distilled white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio) applied with a spray bottle and scrubbed after 15 minutes is effective. For tougher cases, look for a hydrogen peroxide-based cleaner (3-6% solution) at local supermarkets or hardware stores.
The most critical step is addressing the moisture source. Ensure your bathroom's extractor fan is working properly and runs for at least 30 minutes after showering. Wipe down wet tiles and squeegee the shower walls after every use to remove standing water. Improving ventilation is the only reliable way to prevent it from returning quickly. If the mould has spread significantly, appears deep within the grout, or returns persistently despite thorough cleaning, the issue may be behind the tiles. In such cases, a professional inspection with moisture meters can identify hidden leaks or condensation problems that DIY products cannot fix. |
