Black mold from AC leak in Dubai: professional remediation cost?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived in our Jumeirah Village Circle apartment for 2 years and just noticed a large patch of black mold spreading from behind our bedroom wardrobe, probably from a hidden AC leak. The musty smell is strong and my allergies have been awful. I’m worried about the cost but more about it coming back if we don’t fix it right. Should I just hire a professional mold remediation company here in Dubai, and roughly how much would it cost to treat an area about two meters wide?

Based on your description, this is a serious case that absolutely requires professional intervention. Black mold, often Stachybotrys chartarum, from a hidden AC leak is a significant health and structural hazard, especially in JVC's climate where high humidity accelerates growth.

The cost for professional remediation in Dubai for a two-meter patch can vary widely. For a contained area like that, you're likely looking at a range between AED 2,500 to AED 6,000+. This is not a simple surface clean; a proper protocol involves:
1. Containment: Sealing the area with negative air pressure to prevent spores spreading throughout your apartment.
2. Source Fixation: A certified AC technician MUST repair the leak first. Remediation is pointless otherwise.
3. Removal: Possibly cutting out and replacing contaminated drywall or insulation behind the wardrobe.
4. HEPA Vacuuming & Treatment: Antimicrobial application to eliminate residual spores.
5. Verification: Post-remediation testing to ensure the spore count is back to safe, ambient levels.

DIY or cheap fixes will fail. The mold is a symptom; the leak is the disease. We adhere to DM and Dubai Municipality guidelines for indoor air quality and waste disposal of contaminated materials. For an accurate quote and to ensure it's done right the first time, you need an on-site inspection.
