Is AC mold in Jumeirah making me sick?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in my apartment in Jumeirah Lake Towers seems to be leaking a bit of water into the closet where the unit is, and now there’s black spots around the vent inside. My sinuses have been terrible for the past month and I’m waking up with a sore throat every morning. Is this mold from the chiller making me sick, and who do I call to get it properly cleaned?

Based on your description, the answer is almost certainly yes, the mold from your AC chiller is the likely cause of your sinus issues and sore throat. The black spots around the vent are a classic visual indicator of a mold colony, often Aspergillus or Cladosporium, which are extremely common in the humid environments created by AC condensate leaks in Dubai.

The leak in the closet is a critical issue. This standing water creates the perfect high-humidity environment for mold to proliferate inside the unit and the ductwork. When the AC operates, it then blows these spores directly into your living space, which you are breathing in for hours while sleeping.

For a situation like this in Jumeirah Lake Towers, a DIY cleaning is not sufficient and can actually disturb the spores, making the contamination worse. You need a professional inspection and remediation. The process involves identifying the exact moisture source, containing the area to prevent cross-contamination, using HEPA filtration to clean the air, and applying specialized biocides to treat the chiller unit, coils, and entire ductwork system.

Given your health symptoms, this is a serious case that requires immediate attention. I strongly recommend you call our certified team for a comprehensive inspection. We are fully versed in Dubai Municipality regulations for indoor air quality and remediation protocols.
