Cost and DIY feasibility for black mold in Dubai villa?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing and I suspect it's from the black mold that's been spreading along the bottom of the wall behind our sofa in the living room. We’ve lived here for 2 years and just noticed it when we moved the furniture, and it seems worse after we run the AC. I'm worried about the health risks and that it might be inside the wall.
What's the realistic cost range for professional mold remediation for a patch like this in a Dubai villa, and is it a complete DIY fail to try and handle it myself with bleach?

Based on your description, this is a serious situation that requires immediate professional attention, not a DIY project. The coughing in your kids is a major red flag, and the fact the mold is behind furniture and seems worse with AC use strongly suggests a significant moisture issue within the wall cavity, likely from a condensate drain leak or a breach in the building envelope.
For a patch like that in a Dubai villa, the realistic cost range for professional remediation can vary widely. A localized job might start from AED 2,500, but if the mold has penetrated the drywall and insulation (which it very likely has), the cost for proper removal, disposal, and reconstruction could easily reach AED 7,000 - AED 12,000 or more. This includes containment, HEPA filtration, and antimicrobial treatment to ensure it doesn't return. Using bleach is a complete fail here. It only bleaches the surface color and doesn't kill the roots (hyphae). More importantly, it introduces excess moisture, potentially fueling further growth inside the wall. Disturbing it yourself also risks releasing a massive amount of spores into your air conditioning system, contaminating your entire home and exacerbating your family's respiratory issues. Given the health symptoms and potential for hidden growth, a professional inspection is non-negotiable. We need to identify the moisture source and assess the full extent. Please, do not attempt to handle this yourself. Call our certified team for an immediate assessment at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com. Your family's health is the priority. |
