AC causing cold room but damp closet with mold?« Back to Previous Page

Our master bedroom in the Jumeirah Village townhouse is always freezing from the AC, but our walk-in closet still feels damp and our leather shoes and bags have started getting these white mold spots. It’s been like this for the past month, getting worse with the summer humidity. Is this something I can fix with a dehumidifier from Dragon Mart, or do I need to call a professional AC company to check the insulation?

Good question. This is a very common issue we see in Dubai villas and townhouses, especially in areas like Jumeirah Village. The problem isn't just that your AC is too cold; it's a classic case of localized humidity imbalance.

Your AC is working overtime to cool the large volume of the master bedroom, effectively removing moisture there. However, the walk-in closet is likely a "dead zone" with poor air circulation. The cold air from the room isn't sufficiently penetrating the closet, but the humid air from the rest of the house is seeping in. When this warm, moist air hits the cold surfaces inside the closet (like your leather goods and the exterior walls), the moisture condenses, creating the perfect breeding ground for mold.

A consumer dehumidifier from Dragon Mart is a temporary mitigation tool, not a solution. It will treat the symptom (humidity in the closet) but does not address the root cause: the poor air distribution and potential pressure imbalances in your AC system. The issue could be undersized ductwork feeding the closet, blocked vents, or insufficient insulation in that specific wall.

Given you already have active mold growth on personal items, this requires professional assessment. UAE regulations (as per Dubai Municipality) emphasize the importance of proper HVAC system design to prevent such moisture issues that lead to indoor air quality problems. Our certified technicians use thermal imaging cameras and precise hygrometers to identify the exact source of the humidity infiltration and evaluate your AC's performance.

I strongly recommend a professional inspection to prevent further damage to your property and belongings. Call us at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com for a comprehensive assessment. We can determine if this is an AC issue, an insulation problem, or both, and provide a permanent solution.
