Can I clean black mold myself or call a professional?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in our villa in Mirdif has been making the whole upstairs landing feel damp, and I just found a patch of black spots behind our wardrobe. We’ve lived here for 2 years and just noticed it, probably from all the humidity. Is this something I can clean myself with bleach from the supermarket, or do I need to call a professional mold inspection company to make sure it’s not a bigger problem inside the walls?

Based on your description from the villa in Mirdif, this is a very common issue we see here in Dubai. The persistent humidity, especially from an AC that may not be dehumidifying properly, creates the perfect environment for mold growth.

While a small, surface-level patch might be tempting to clean yourself with a supermarket bleach solution, I strongly advise against it for a few critical reasons. First, what you see is often just the tip of the iceberg. If it's appearing on a wall, there's a high probability the growth extends deeper into the drywall or insulation, which DIY methods cannot address. Second, improper cleaning (like using bleach, which is mostly water) can actually feed the mold and aerosolize the spores, spreading the contamination to other areas of your home. For your family's health and to ensure the problem is solved at its source, a professional assessment is crucial.

Our certified inspectors use moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to identify the exact moisture source (like a potential AC drain line leak inside the wall) and the full extent of the growth. We then provide a detailed remediation protocol following UAE standards.

To get a definitive answer and protect your property, I recommend calling us for a comprehensive inspection. You can reach our team at 800-MOLDS or 800-66537, or email hello@saniservice.com for a consultation.
