How to find and eliminate hidden mold in Dubai AC?« Back to Previous Page

Our building in Jumeirah Village Circle had some water damage from the AC condensation leak in the wall last summer. We got it fixed, but now that the humidity is rising again, my 8-year-old son has started wheezing at night and his pediatrician thinks it's mold-induced asthma. I'm terrified the mold is hidden somewhere and coming back through the AC vents. What's the most effective way to find and completely eliminate hidden mold in a Dubai apartment to prevent this?

As a certified mold inspector here in Dubai, your situation is unfortunately very common, especially in JVC with its high humidity levels. That wheezing is a classic sign of mold spore exposure, often circulated directly through the AC system.

The most effective way to find hidden mold is a professional inspection. We use three key tools: a borescope to see inside your walls and ceiling voids without damage, a moisture meter to detect residual dampness from that old leak (which is a breeding ground), and most critically, an air quality pump to take samples from your supply vents and living space. This lab analysis identifies the exact spore types and concentrations, which is essential for remediation and for your pediatrician.

For elimination, simply cleaning the visible parts isn't enough. The AC ductwork itself likely needs a full hygienization service, which is a regulated process here in the UAE. We use EPA-approved biocides and HEPA vacuuming to decontaminate the entire system. Any affected drywall or insulation behind the wall must be removed under containment to prevent cross-contamination.

Given your son's health symptoms, this is not a DIY project. improper handling will aerosolize the spores and make the problem much worse. I strongly recommend a professional assessment.

Call us at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com for a comprehensive inspection. We can provide a certified report for your landlord if needed and a plan to make your home safe again.
