How to get a mold inspection for a damp closet?« Back to Previous Page

Our master bedroom closet on the outside wall has started to feel damp, and I just found a few small black spots on a leather bag stored in the back. We keep the AC running most of the time, but with the recent high humidity, I’m worried it’s not enough. What’s the best way to get a proper mold inspection done here to find the source and make sure it doesn't spread to our clothes and the walls?

Hey there, that's a classic issue we see in Dubai, especially with the recent spike in humidity. That damp feeling and those black spots are major red flags. A proper inspection is absolutely the right move to prevent it from spreading to your wardrobe and drywall.

First, stop. Don't try to clean or scrub the spots yourself, as you could accidentally release a ton of spores. The goal of a professional inspection isn't just to confirm mold—it's to find the source of the moisture. In your closet on an outside wall, it could be a tiny leak from the AC drain line, condensation from the cold wall meeting humid air (a big problem here), or even a minor infiltration from the building envelope.

A certified inspector won't just do a visual check. They'll use a borescope to look inside the wall cavity, a moisture meter to map the dampness levels in the drywall, and maybe even an infrared camera to find hidden cold spots where condensation is forming. Air and surface sampling might be recommended to identify the spore types and concentration levels, which guides the remediation plan.

For a legit inspection here in the UAE, you gotta use a company certified by Dubai Municipality or with CMRS/CIEC credentials. They follow strict protocols to ensure it's done right. Given the location and the fact it's already on your belongings, I'd strongly recommend calling in a pro ASAP to get a full assessment and stop it at the source.

Call our team at 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule a comprehensive inspection. We can get someone out to you to pinpoint that moisture issue before it gets any worse.
