Do we need urgent mold inspection for AC and spots?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in my apartment seems to be constantly running and the air just feels heavy and damp, especially in the master bedroom. We’ve lived here for 2 years and just noticed a few small black spots starting to form in the corner behind the wardrobe after this last humid spell. My wife has been waking up with a stuffy nose every morning. How quickly do we need to get a professional to look at this before it becomes a major health or structural issue?

Based on your description, this absolutely warrants a professional inspection, and I would advise scheduling one with some urgency.

The constant AC operation and heavy, damp air are classic indicators of elevated humidity levels, a primary catalyst for mold growth here in the UAE. The black spots behind the wardrobe are a visible confirmation. This area is a cold spot with poor air circulation, allowing condensation to form and mold to establish a foothold. Your wife's morning stuffy nose is a potential symptom of exposure to mold spores, which can exacerbate allergies and respiratory issues.

Given the climate, this situation will not resolve itself and will almost certainly worsen, especially with another humid season approaching. The growth can spread within the wall cavity and through the HVAC system, turning a localized issue into a whole-apartment contamination, impacting both health and the building's structure.

We follow strict Dubai Municipality guidelines for assessment and remediation. A certified inspector will conduct a visual examination, use moisture meters to detect hidden dampness, and perform air and surface sampling to identify the spore types and concentrations. This data is critical to formulating an effective remediation plan.

Do not attempt to clean this yourself, as improper handling can aerosolize the spores. For a proper assessment, please call our team at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an inspection. Addressing this promptly is the key to preventing a major issue.
