AC making loud noise, blowing warm air: quick fix or new unit?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in my master bedroom in my Jumeirah villa suddenly started making this loud rattling noise last night and now it’s barely blowing any cool air, just weak warmish air. It’s the absolute worst timing with this humidity. Is this likely a quick fix for a technician or a sign I need a whole new unit?

Based on your description of a sudden loud rattling noise followed by a significant loss of cooling capacity, this is a serious issue that requires immediate professional attention, especially given the current climatic conditions in Dubai.

The loud rattling noise is a critical symptom. It is most likely caused by a catastrophic failure of the compressor, which is the heart of your AC unit. The compressor is responsible for circulating the refrigerant. If it has seized or suffered internal damage, it will produce a distinct metallic grinding or rattling sound and fail to pump refrigerant, which explains the warm, weak airflow you're now experiencing. Another, though less common, possibility is a severely damaged fan motor or a foreign object lodged in the blower assembly.

This is not typically a quick, inexpensive fix. A compressor replacement is a major repair that often constitutes a significant portion of the cost of a new unit, particularly for older systems. Furthermore, UAE regulations govern the handling of refrigerants (like R410A or R32); only certified technicians with the proper recovery equipment can legally and safely perform this work to prevent environmental harm.

Given that you're in a villa in Jumeirah, the unit's age is a major factor. If it's over 7-10 years old, a full replacement with a modern, energy-efficient unit is almost certainly more cost-effective than a major repair. Continuing to run a damaged compressor can cause further electrical damage to the system.

You need a certified technician to diagnose this on-site. Do not delay, as operating it in this state can cause a complete burnout.

For an immediate inspection and accurate diagnosis, please call our certified team at 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com. We can assess whether a repair is viable or advise on a replacement unit that complies with Dubai's efficiency standards.
