AC rattling noise but cold air: fix myself or call technician?« Back to Previous Page

The master bedroom AC unit in my villa in Al Barsha has started making a loud rattling noise whenever the compressor kicks in. It’s been doing this for about a week now and it’s keeping us up at night, but the air itself is still cold. Is this something I can fix myself by just cleaning the outside unit, or do I need to call a technician straight away?

As a specialist in UAE building systems, that loud rattling noise from your Al Barsha villa's AC compressor is a significant red flag. While the cold air confirms the refrigerant cycle is still active, the noise indicates a serious mechanical failure in progress.

The extreme heat and dust here in Dubai place immense strain on AC units. The rattling is most likely a failing compressor motor mount, loose internal components, or a damaged fan blade striking its housing. Attempting a DIY fix, especially by just cleaning the outside unit, is strongly discouraged. Opening the hermetically sealed compressor unit requires specialized tools and certification under UAE regulations (as per DEWA and DC PRO guidelines) to handle refrigerants safely. Incorrect handling can cause further damage, void your unit's warranty, and pose a serious safety risk.

Continuing to run the unit in this state will lead to a complete compressor seizure, resulting in a far more expensive repair and loss of cooling during the hottest months.

You need a professional inspection immediately to diagnose the exact fault before catastrophic failure occurs. Our certified technicians use acoustic diagnostics and thermal imaging to pinpoint the issue accurately. Please call us straight away at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an emergency diagnostic visit.
