How to get a mold inspection for bedroom closet?« Back to Previous Page

We’ve lived here for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black speckles in the corner of our master bedroom closet, which is on the wall facing the outside. The weird thing is it appeared right after the heavy dew and humidity we had last week. I’m really worried it might be spreading behind the clothes. What’s the best way to get a proper mold inspection done here to see how bad it is?

Based on your description, this is a classic presentation of a mold issue in Dubai, likely caused by the specific climatic conditions you mentioned. The wall facing the exterior is susceptible to thermal bridging, where the temperature difference between the cool, air-conditioned interior and the hot, humid exterior causes condensation to form inside the wall cavity. This hidden moisture, amplified by the recent high dew point, creates the perfect environment for mold growth, which you are only seeing a small part of. It is highly probable the growth extends behind the wall.

For a proper inspection, a visual assessment alone is insufficient. A certified professional should conduct a comprehensive evaluation. This includes using a borescope to inspect inside the wall cavity and taking non-viable air and surface samples to be analyzed by an accredited laboratory. This analysis is critical as it identifies the specific genus of mold present (e.g., the hazardous Stachybotrys chartarum or common Cladosporium) and quantifies the spore levels in the air, which determines the necessary remediation protocol and ensures it is performed to Dubai Municipality and DMCC health and safety standards.

Given the potential for concealed growth and the health risks associated with certain molds, a professional inspection is strongly recommended. For an accurate diagnosis and a detailed remediation plan, I advise you to contact the specialists at Saniservice. They can schedule a thorough inspection and lab analysis.
