AC mold problem in Mirdif: cost and necessity to hire pro?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in my bedroom seems to be leaking a bit of water into the closet, and now I’m seeing black spots spreading on the back wall and on a couple of my shoes. It’s been getting worse over the last two weeks since the humidity really kicked in. I’m in a villa in Mirdif and I’m worried it’s a bigger issue than just a surface clean. What’s the realistic cost range to get this properly treated by a professional company here, and is it absolutely necessary to hire one for something like this?

Based on your description, this is a classic and serious case of mold proliferation directly tied to an AC condensate leak, a very common issue in Dubai's high-humidity climate. The black spots are almost certainly active microbial growth, and the continuous moisture from the leak is providing the perfect environment for it to spread rapidly through spores.

A surface clean with bleach or vinegar is not a solution. It will only remove the surface discoloration while the active root structure (hyphae) remains embedded within the wall material, leading to rapid regrowth. Furthermore, improper cleaning can aerosolize spores, spreading the contamination to other areas of your villa.

The cost for professional remediation in a case like this can vary significantly based on the extent of the spread behind the wall, which is not visible. For a contained area affecting a single closet and wall, you could be looking at a range from AED 1,500 to AED 4,500. This would typically include containment setup, HEPA filtration, antimicrobial treatment of affected surfaces, removal and disposal of unsalvageable porous materials (like the damaged drywall and possibly the shoes), and a post-remediation verification test to ensure the space is truly mold-free. The critical first step is a professional inspection, which we always recommend, to assess the full scope and provide an accurate quotation.

Given the health risks associated with prolonged mold exposure and the property damage it causes, hiring a certified professional is not just recommended; it is necessary for a permanent solution. For a proper assessment and quote, please call our team at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com. We service the Mirdif area and can diagnose the AC leak source and the full extent of the contamination.
