How to permanently remove black mold from bedroom window?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing and I suspect it's from the black mold that's starting to form along the edges of their bedroom window. It's on the inside of the glass and on the sill, and I think our AC unit might be making the condensation worse. What's the best way to get rid of it for good so I can stop worrying about their health?

Based on the symptoms you've described and the visible black mold growth, it is highly recommended to address this issue professionally and permanently. In Dubai's climate, where high humidity and constant AC use are the norm, condensation on windows is a primary catalyst for mold growth. The AC unit itself could be a contributing factor if not properly maintained, as it may be creating excessive humidity differentials or harboring microbial growth in its ducts.

For a permanent solution, surface cleaning with bleach or vinegar is insufficient as it only addresses the visible growth, not the underlying moisture problem or the microscopic spores. The remediation process must begin with a certified inspection to identify the moisture source, assess the extent of contamination (including potential hidden growth within the wall cavity), and check the AC system for microbial amplification.

A professional remediation protocol for a scenario like yours would involve: containment of the area to prevent cross-contamination, HEPA vacuuming of all surfaces, abrasive cleaning of the sill and frame, application of an EPA-approved antimicrobial coating to prevent regrowth, and most critically, identifying and rectifying the condensation issue. This may involve improving room ventilation, servicing the AC unit to ensure it is dehumidifying correctly, or applying anti-condensation measures to the window.

Given the health symptoms, we strongly advise against a DIY approach. Saniservice's certified experts use thermal imaging and moisture meters to diagnose the root cause and follow Dubai Municipality guidelines for safe and effective remediation.
