Is black mold from AC making my wife sick?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in our villa in Jumeirah has been constantly running for months and now we’ve found what looks like black spots spreading from the vents onto the ceiling. My wife’s allergies have been terrible for the last few weeks and I’m worried it’s connected. Is this something we need to get a professional to look at immediately, or can it wait until the weekend?

Based on your description, this is a situation that requires immediate professional attention and should not wait until the weekend. The black spots spreading from your AC vents in Jumeirah are a strong visual indicator of a significant mold colony, likely Aspergillus or Stachybotrys (black mold), which are common in Dubai's climate. The constant operation of your AC unit creates an ideal environment for mold: the cooling coils produce condensation, and if the unit's drainage is compromised or the interior is not kept dry, this moisture combined with dust and organic debris becomes a perfect breeding ground.

Your wife's worsening allergies are a major red flag and are almost certainly connected. Mold spores are being aerosolized and distributed throughout your villa's air supply, leading to persistent allergic reactions and potential respiratory issues. In the UAE's high humidity, this problem will not resolve itself and will only worsen, potentially causing structural damage to the property and more severe health impacts.

As per Dubai Municipality regulations, addressing indoor air quality and biological contaminants is taken seriously. A DIY approach is strongly discouraged as improper handling can cause a massive release of spores, contaminating other areas. A certified professional inspection is critical. We use specialized equipment like borescopes to inspect inside ductwork, moisture meters to identify water intrusion, and air and surface sampling to identify the specific mold species and concentration levels.

I recommend you contact a certified mold inspection and remediation company like Saniservice immediately. Our team can conduct a comprehensive assessment to determine the extent of the contamination and provide a protocol for safe, effective remediation. Please call us at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an urgent inspection.
