Can I clean black mold myself or call a pro?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing and I suspect it's from the black mold that’s been growing in the corners of our master bedroom closet. We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed it, probably because it's been so humid lately. I tried wiping it with vinegar but it came back darker than before. Is this something I can safely clean myself with bleach, or do I need to call a professional mold removal company in Dubai?

Based on your description, this is a serious situation that requires professional intervention. The recurrent growth, especially after a DIY attempt with vinegar, and the associated health symptoms in your children are significant red flags.

In the UAE's high-humidity climate, AC systems create constant temperature differentials, leading to condensation in hidden areas like closets. This provides the perfect environment for toxic black mold (often Stachybotrys chartarum) to thrive. Vinegar and bleach are ineffective for porous materials and only bleach the surface, causing the colony to regrow deeper and darker, as you've experienced. More critically, improper cleaning aerosolizes highly toxic mycotoxins, drastically increasing inhalation risk.

For any visible growth over approximately one square foot, or if health symptoms are present, UAE health and safety guidelines strongly recommend assessment and remediation by a certified professional. We would conduct a thorough inspection, including moisture mapping and air quality testing, to identify the full extent of the infestation and the root moisture source. Our remediation process involves advanced containment, HEPA filtration, and specialized antimicrobial treatments to safely remove the biofilm and spores, followed by post-remediation verification to ensure the environment is safe.

For the health of your family, I strongly advise against further DIY attempts. Please contact our team for a professional assessment. Call 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an inspection.
