Can I clean this black mold myself or call a pro?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a bunch of black spots growing along the corner where the wall meets the ceiling in our master bedroom. It’s right behind the headboard, and the room has started to feel damp even with the AC on. Is this something I can clean myself with bleach from the supermarket, or is it time to call in a professional cleaning company?

Based on your description, this is a classic case of mold growth driven by Dubai's high humidity and condensation, particularly from year-round AC operation. The location behind the headboard is a significant red flag; it indicates a severe lack of air circulation, allowing moisture to accumulate and create a perfect breeding ground for mold. The feeling of dampness confirms an ongoing moisture issue that must be addressed at its source.

While superficial mildew on a non-porous surface can sometimes be cleaned with a diluted bleach solution, what you are describing is a more serious infestation. Black spots along the wall-ceiling joint suggest penetration into the porous drywall and possibly the ceiling void. DIY cleaning with supermarket bleach will only remove surface discoloration, leaving the root colony intact to regrow quickly. More critically, bleaching can agitate the spores, causing them to become airborne and spread throughout your home, significantly increasing the health risk to occupants.

According to UAE health and safety guidelines, proper mold remediation requires containment, professional-grade antimicrobial agents, and specialized equipment like HEPA scrubbers to safely remove the biomass and spores. A DIY attempt will not solve the underlying condensation issue and could worsen the problem.

For a case like this, a professional inspection is non-negotiable. Our certified inspectors at Saniservice can conduct a thorough assessment to identify the exact moisture source, the species of mold present, and the extent of the contamination. We then execute a controlled remediation protocol to ensure it is removed safely and permanently. I strongly recommend you call our experts for a consultation.
