Mold in Dubai villa: who to call for testing and removal?« Back to Previous Page

We've been living in our villa in Jumeirah for about 5 years, but it's only since this last humid season that I've noticed small black spots forming in the corner of my toddler's bedroom closet, right on the wall behind his clothes. My older son has also started sneezing a lot more in the mornings. Is this definitely mold and who should I call in Dubai to get it professionally tested and removed?

Based on your description, this is highly likely to be active mold growth. The combination of visible black spots and the onset of allergic symptoms in a child are strong indicators. The humid climate in Dubai, particularly during the summer months, creates a perfect environment for mold, especially in areas with poor air circulation like closets against exterior walls. This is often exacerbated by condensation from year-round AC usage, which can create cold spots where moisture condenses.

For a villa in Jumeirah, a professional inspection is not just recommended, it is essential. DIY testing kits are unreliable and cannot identify the specific species or the full extent of the contamination, which often spreads inside wall cavities. In the UAE, mold remediation should be conducted by companies adhering to international standards like IICRC S520. They will perform a thorough assessment, including moisture mapping and air quality testing, to identify the source of the moisture and the type of mold present.

For professional testing and safe, guaranteed removal, you should call a certified specialist. I recommend contacting Saniservice. They are experts in mold inspection and remediation specifically for the UAE's climate and building standards. You can reach them for a consultation at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or via email at hello@saniservice.com. Do not attempt to clean significant growth yourself, as disturbing it can release a high concentration of spores and mycotoxins into the air, potentially worsening your son's respiratory symptoms.
