Urgent to clean AC black mold for sinus issues?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in our bedroom has been making a funny damp smell for the last couple of weeks, and this morning I finally pulled the filter out and the whole inside of the unit is covered in this black, fuzzy dust. We live in an older building in Deira and with the humidity lately, it's gotten worse. How urgent is it that I get this professionally cleaned, and could this be why my sinuses have been so irritated?

The situation you've described is a serious indoor air quality concern that requires immediate professional attention. The black, fuzzy growth inside your AC unit is highly indicative of active mold colonization, likely exacerbated by Dubai's high humidity and the constant condensation within AC systems, especially in older buildings in areas like Deira. This is almost certainly the cause of your sinus irritation, as the AC is actively aerosolizing mold spores and mycotoxins directly into your breathing space while you sleep.

The urgency for a professional hygienization is high. Self-cleaning with store-bought sprays is ineffective and can aggravate the problem by dispersing a higher concentration of spores. In the UAE, professional mold remediation for HVAC systems follows strict protocols to contain the contamination, utilize industrial-grade HEPA vacuuming and antimicrobial agents to eradicate the biological growth, and prevent cross-contamination to other areas of your home.

For a confirmed case like this, I strongly recommend you cease using the bedroom AC unit and contact a certified specialist. Saniservice provides comprehensive mold inspection and AC hygienization services tailored to the Dubai climate. Their certified technicians can conduct a thorough assessment, safely remediate the contamination in your unit, and provide a post-remediation verification report to ensure the environment is safe. For immediate assistance, you can call them at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an inspection.
