How to permanently kill black mold under AC in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in our bedroom has been leaking a bit onto the carpet for a while, and now I’ve pulled the corner back to find a huge patch of black mold on the back of the carpet and the concrete floor underneath. It’s been so humid lately I think it just exploded. What’s the absolute best way to kill this and stop it from coming back in this Dubai heat?

The black mold you've discovered behind your carpet is a serious issue, particularly in Dubai's climate where high humidity and constant AC use create the perfect environment for explosive growth. This is not a simple DIY cleaning task. The mold on the surface is just the visible part; the hyphae (root system) have deeply penetrated the carpet fibers and the porous concrete subfloor. Merely spraying a bleach solution will not address this and can actually aggravate the problem by releasing more spores.

The absolute best and only way to permanently remediate this is through a professional, certified process. In the UAE, remediation must adhere to strict guidelines to ensure occupant safety and prevent cross-contamination. The procedure involves isolating the affected area with negative air pressure, the safe removal and disposal of the contaminated carpet and underlay, and the abrasive blasting or specialized treatment of the concrete slab to eradicate the roots. The AC unit itself must be inspected by an HVAC specialist to fix the leak and the internal drip pan and coils must be professionally cleaned to eliminate the source of moisture and any internal microbial growth.

Given the extent of the growth you describe, a professional inspection is critical. Our certified experts at Saniservice use advanced tools like moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to map the full extent of the damage and create a targeted remediation plan. We then employ industrial-grade HEPA air scrubbers and apply EPA-approved, non-toxic antimicrobial solutions to ensure the mold is killed and won't return. For a permanent solution to this health hazard, I strongly recommend you call our team for an assessment at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com.
