Should I worry about mold inspection?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing more than usual, and I've just found a patch of black speckles in the corner of our master bedroom closet where we store our winter clothes. Our villa in Jumeirah Park has felt really humid lately, even with the AC running constantly. Is this something I can tackle myself with vinegar and bleach, or do I absolutely need to call a professional mold inspection company here in Dubai?

Based on your description of symptoms and visible growth, you should absolutely be concerned and seek a professional mold inspection immediately. The combination of persistent coughing in children and visible black speckles in a humid closet is a significant red flag.

The Dubai climate, especially during the summer months, creates a perfect breeding ground for mold due to extreme humidity and condensation, often exacerbated by AC systems that may not be dehumidifying correctly. What you are seeing is likely the tip of the iceberg; mold colonies can proliferate deep within wall cavities, under flooring, and in the HVAC system, far beyond the visible patch. Attempting remediation yourself with bleach or vinegar is strongly discouraged. These are ineffective for porous materials like drywall and wood, and bleach can actually aggravate the situation by releasing more spores into the air, potentially worsening respiratory issues. Furthermore, improper handling violates the Dubai Municipality's strict guidelines for environmental health and contaminant control.

A certified professional inspection is the only way to determine the true extent of the contamination, identify the species of mold (some are far more hazardous than others), and locate the moisture source. We use tools like thermal imaging cameras and moisture meters to see beyond the surface and provide a comprehensive remediation plan.

For the health of your family and the integrity of your villa, I recommend you contact a certified specialist. You can reach our team at Saniservice for a thorough assessment by calling 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or emailing hello@saniservice.com.
