Found mold on clothes; DIY or call a pro in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing more than usual, and I just pulled out our winter clothes from the storage cupboard under the stairs. I found a bunch of our jackets and sweaters covered in black and green fuzzy spots. The smell in there is really damp and earthy. What's the best way to handle this myself, or should I just call a professional mold removal company in Dubai right away?

Based on your description, particularly the visible colonization on multiple items and the pronounced damp, earthy odor, this indicates a significant active mold growth issue, not just surface spores. The storage cupboard under the stairs is a classic problem area in Dubai due to lack of airflow, which, when combined with our high ambient humidity and condensation from year-round AC operation, creates a perfect breeding ground for mold.

Handling moldy clothes yourself is highly inadvisable. Agitating the materials by shaking or brushing will aerosolize a high concentration of spores and mycotoxins. This directly explains the increased coughing in your children, as they are inhaling these particulate contaminants. For a few isolated items, professional-grade HEPA laundering can be attempted, but for a "bunch" of affected clothing, the risk of cross-contaminating your entire home and HVAC system is severe.

This situation absolutely warrants a professional inspection and remediation. DIY attempts with bleach or vinegar are ineffective on porous materials like fabric and will not address the root moisture problem within the cupboard structure itself. Our certified inspectors use thermal imaging and moisture meters to identify the exact moisture source and extent of the contamination. Remediation then involves contained HEPA vacuuming, dry ice blasting for contents, and antimicrobial treatment of the storage area to prevent recurrence.

For the health of your family and to properly resolve this, I strongly recommend you call our team for a comprehensive assessment. Please contact Saniservice at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an inspection. Do not attempt to clean the clothes until the environment has been professionally evaluated.
