Is bedroom closet black mold urgent for toddler's room?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black mold in the corner of our master bedroom closet, which is on an interior wall. It wasn't there during my last seasonal clean-out a few months ago, but with the recent humidity, it seems to have exploded. My main concern is my toddler who sleeps in the next room – is this something I need to get professionally treated like, tomorrow, or can it wait until the weekend?

Based on the description of a rapidly developing black mold patch on an interior wall, this situation should be treated with a high degree of urgency, especially given the proximity to your toddler's room. The recent spike in humidity is a classic catalyst in the Dubai climate, where our year-round AC use can create significant condensation issues within wall cavities, particularly on cooler interior surfaces.

Black mold (often Stachybotrys chartarum) is a toxigenic species. Its spores can become airborne and migrate through the HVAC system or under doorways, posing a potential respiratory health risk. Infants and toddlers are particularly vulnerable due to their developing immune systems and higher respiratory rates. Immediate action is advised to prevent further proliferation and potential exposure.

Do not attempt to remove this yourself with bleach or store-bought solutions. Improper handling will aerosolize the spores, significantly increasing the risk of cross-contamination and inhalation. The source of the moisture must be professionally identified—it could be a slow plumbing leak within the wall, a breach in the building envelope, or severe condensation from AC ducting.

I strongly recommend a professional inspection and remediation. Our certified team at Saniservice uses moisture meters, thermal imaging, and specialized containment procedures to safely remove the biomatter and rectify the moisture source, in compliance with Dubai Municipality's strict health and safety guidelines.
