Need mold inspection for cough and black mold in Jumeirah« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing non-stop for the last few weeks, and we can't figure out why. I just pulled out some winter clothes from the storage cupboard under our stairs in Jumeirah and found a bunch of our jackets and shoes covered in black fuzzy spots. I’m really worried this mold is making them sick. Can anyone recommend a reliable mold inspection company that can test the air quality and tell us how bad it is?

Persistent cough and visible black mold in a confined storage space are strong indicators of an indoor air quality issue that needs professional assessment. The high humidity and year-round AC use in Jumeirah create ideal conditions for mold growth in poorly ventilated areas like under-stair cupboards.

For a situation like this, a proper inspection involves more than a visual check. A credible company will conduct air quality testing inside the cupboard, in adjacent living areas, and outside to establish a baseline. This comparison identifies if and how much the mold spores have spread into your home's air, which is likely contributing to the respiratory symptoms. The inspection should also include moisture mapping with a thermal camera to find the humidity source, as simply cleaning the visible mold will fail if the underlying moisture issue isn't resolved.

Look for a provider that uses a certified microbiology lab to analyze samples. This is crucial for identifying the specific mold type from the black spots and determining its potential health impact, which guides the remediation strategy. The Dubai Municipality has guidelines on indoor air quality, and a science-driven approach will provide the documented evidence you need.

In the meantime, avoid disturbing the moldy items, as this can release more spores. Keep the cupboard closed and ensure the area is well-ventilated. A professional inspection with verifiable lab results is the necessary first step to understand the scope and protect your family's health.
