Should we get an urgent mold inspection for our villa?« Back to Previous Page

Our villa in Al Barsha has felt really humid since the heavy rains a couple of weeks ago. I just pulled a storage box out from the corner of my bedroom and found a patch of black and green fuzzy mold on the wall behind it. My husband thinks we can just wipe it off, but I'm worried it's a bigger problem inside the walls. How urgently do we need to get a professional mold inspection done?

Given the discovery and your villa's recent humidity, a professional inspection is strongly recommended. The heavy rains likely increased ambient moisture, and Al Barsha's high water table can exacerbate ground-level dampness. Mold behind furniture suggests a persistent humidity issue, potentially within the wall cavity if the exterior was compromised by rain.

While wiping the surface can remove visible growth, it doesn't address the hidden moisture source. In Dubai's climate, with constant AC use creating temperature differentials, condensation within walls is a common, hidden problem that leads to recurring mold.

For a proper assessment, look for an inspector who uses a borescope to check inside walls and a thermal imaging camera to identify cold spots where condensation occurs. This identifies the true extent, which dictates the remediation method. Saniservice's approach includes this diagnostic step to prevent recurrence. Delaying could allow the colony to spread, making the eventual remediation more extensive.
