Should I call a professional for bedroom closet mold?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in my bedroom closet has been leaking a bit and now there's a patch of black mold on the back wall. I tried wiping it with vinegar, but the smell is still there and it seems to be spreading. I'm worried about it affecting our clothes and health. Should I call a professional mold removal company here in Dubai, or is this something I can tackle myself with a stronger cleaner?

For a mold patch caused by an AC leak that's spreading and has a persistent smell, professional remediation is strongly advised in Dubai. The high humidity and constant AC use create ideal conditions for mold to regrow deep within building materials after a surface clean. Vinegar only addresses the surface and won't kill the roots or remove mycotoxins causing the odour.

The leak must be fixed first; a technician should repair the AC drain line or condensation pan. For the mold, a professional team will contain the area to prevent spores from spreading to your clothes and living spaces, remove affected drywall or insulation if necessary, and use industrial-grade HEPA filtration and antimicrobials to treat it properly. They can also provide post-remediation verification to confirm it's truly resolved.

Attempting a stronger DIY cleaner often aerosolizes spores, worsening the contamination. Given the health risks from prolonged exposure and the potential for property damage, a professional assessment is the most reliable course of action. Look for a provider that offers a detailed report and can explain their containment and removal process clearly.
