Is the mold in my house making us sick?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing nonstop for the last few weeks and I’m getting these awful headaches. I finally pulled the couch away from the wall in our living room and found a huge patch of black, fuzzy mold, probably from a slow leak in the AC unit. We spend most of our time in this room. Could this mold be the reason we're all feeling so sick?

Yes, the black mold you found is very likely the cause of your family's persistent coughs and headaches. Continuous exposure to mold spores in a frequently used room like your living room is a common source of these exact symptoms. The high humidity and constant AC use in Dubai create ideal conditions for this growth, especially from a condensate drain leak.
You should arrange for a professional inspection immediately. In Dubai, remediation must follow strict DHA and DM guidelines to be effective. A certified inspector will identify the mold species through lab analysis and locate the full extent of the moisture problem, which is often hidden inside walls or AC ducts. Until help arrives, minimize time in that room and avoid disturbing the mold, as this releases more spores. Cleanup is not just about removing the visible patch; the source of the moisture must be repaired and the area properly remediated to prevent regrowth and protect your family's health. |
