Can I remove this recurring wall mold myself or call pro?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in my bedroom has been leaking a bit for the last few weeks and now I’m seeing these black, fuzzy patches spreading on the wall behind the wardrobe. I tried wiping it with bleach but it came right back. Is this something I can handle myself with products from ACE, or do I absolutely need to call in a professional company for remediation, and what’s the typical cost range for a small room like this?

That recurring black mold is a sign of deeper moisture infiltration, likely from the AC leak saturating the wall. Dubai’s high humidity means it will almost certainly return after surface cleaning with bleach, which doesn't address the root problem or the hyphae growing inside the porous material.

For a small, contained area, you can attempt remediation with a hydrogen peroxide-based cleaner (available at ACE), which can penetrate better than bleach. Thoroughly dry the area with a fan after treatment. However, if the mold returns—which is common with persistent AC leaks—the moisture has likely permeated the drywall or backing, requiring professional assessment.

Given the AC is the source, a professional inspection is strongly recommended. They will identify the extent of the hidden damage, rectify the AC leak causing the condensation, and properly remediate the affected wall section. The cost for a single room is typically influenced by the need for controlled demolition, HEPA vacuuming, and antimicrobial treatment, rather than just the visible patch size. Reputable providers should offer a detailed assessment and quote based on the moisture readings and scope of work.
