Is AED 2,500 reasonable for Jumeirah villa mold removal?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived in our Jumeirah villa for 2 years and just noticed a big patch of black mold in the back of the walk-in wardrobe on the ground floor. It's been really humid lately and I'm worried it's spread behind the walls. I got one quote for AED 2,500, but is that a reasonable price for professional mold removal, or is this something I can tackle myself with a bleach solution?

That price is not unusual for a professional remediation job in a Jumeirah villa, especially if the mold is extensive or suspected to be behind the walls. The cost is typically tied to containment, air scrubbing, safe removal of affected materials, and applying antimicrobial treatments, not just surface cleaning.

Given the high humidity and the fact it's on the ground floor, your concern about hidden growth is valid. In Dubai's climate, mold thrives on condensation from AC systems and dampness from the ground. A bleach solution is not recommended; it only bleaches the visible colour and does not kill the roots, and the moisture from applying it can actually feed further growth.

For a patch large enough to cause concern, a professional assessment is wise to determine the moisture source and full extent. Reputable providers use moisture meters and borescopes to inspect inside walls. The final remediation quote should be based on that diagnostic data, not a guess. Always request a detailed scope of work that includes containment procedures and post-remediation verification to ensure the job is done to standard.
