Can I clean mold with vinegar or call a pro in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

The wall behind my wardrobe in the bedroom has these weird black speckles that I just noticed when I was rearranging. It’s been extra humid lately and we keep the AC on most of the time. Is this something I can clean with vinegar myself, or do I need to call a professional mold inspection company here in Dubai to check it out properly?

Black speckles behind furniture in Dubai's climate are often mold, thriving on humidity and condensation from AC use. A small patch (under one square foot) on a non-porous surface can sometimes be cleaned with a vinegar solution, but the location behind a wardrobe makes this a serious case requiring professional inspection.

The wall likely has moisture trapped within it, which vinegar surface cleaning will not fix. In Dubai, this persistent dampness can stem from a leaking pipe in the wall, condensation from the AC unit, or even external humidity seeping through. A proper inspection identifies the moisture source first; without stopping that, the mold will return regardless of cleaning.

Professional assessment is advised here to prevent potential structural damage and health risks from spores spreading to your bedroom air. Reputable inspectors use moisture meters and thermal imaging to find the water intrusion point hidden behind the wall. They can then advise on the necessary remediation, which may involve moving the wardrobe, addressing the moisture, and safely removing the affected material. For verification, the process should include post-remediation testing to confirm the environment is dry and the mold count has returned to normal levels.
