Need professional for mold in Dubai walk-in closet?« Back to Previous Page

Our bedroom closet in our Jumeirah villa is against an outer wall and after the humid weather we had, I found a bunch of black fuzzy mold on the back panel and on a few of our leather bags. We tried wiping it with vinegar but the smell is still really strong and it seems to be spreading to the shoes. Is this something we absolutely need to call a professional company for, and what's the typical cost range in Dubai for treating a walk-in closet?

Yes, you need a professional assessment. The strong, persistent smell and spread to shoes indicate active growth within the materials, which surface wiping cannot resolve. In Dubai's high humidity, especially with an outer wall prone to condensation from AC temperature differences, the mold has likely penetrated the closet's structure.

For a walk-in closet, the cost is not typically a flat rate but is based on the extent of contamination. It involves removing affected items for off-site cleaning, treating the structure, and addressing the moisture source—often inadequate insulation or a breach in the vapor barrier on that outer wall. Expect pricing to reflect this multi-step remediation process and the required lab analysis to confirm the mold type.

Request a detailed inspection from a company that provides a moisture mapping report and a scope of work. This verifiable diagnosis is what separates effective remediation from a temporary fix. Do not proceed with any company that offers a price without first conducting this assessment.
