How to find and stop mold in my Jumeirah Park villa?« Back to Previous Page

Our villa in Jumeirah Park has been feeling really humid lately, even with the AC running constantly. I’ve started seeing small black specks in the corner of my walk-in wardrobe on the ground floor, and my clothes have a faint damp smell. We had a minor leak from the upstairs bathroom a couple of months ago that was fixed, but I'm worried it might have caused a bigger problem. How can I find out if this is active mold and where it’s really coming from to stop it for good?

The black specks and damp smell, especially following a past leak, are strong indicators of a mould issue. Dubai's high humidity, combined with constant AC use, creates condensation that mould thrives on. The fixed leak may have left moisture inside the wall or under the flooring, which is a common source for recurring problems.

A proper inspection involves more than a visual check. It starts with a detailed moisture mapping of the affected areas, including walls, ceilings, and the wardrobe, using precise tools like thermal imaging and moisture meters. This identifies the exact moisture source, which is critical for a permanent solution. The black specks should be professionally sampled for lab analysis to confirm the species and its potential health implications, as some types are more concerning than others.

For a case like this in a villa, a professional assessment is strongly recommended. DIY attempts often miss the hidden reservoir of moisture, leading to rapid regrowth. The goal is to locate and rectify the ongoing moisture intrusion, not just clean the visible mould. Once the source is addressed and the area is dried, remediation can be planned to effectively remove the contamination and prevent its return.
