Found hidden mold; how to get a full inspection?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing non-stop for the past month, and we can't figure out why. I finally pulled out the sofa in our villa's upstairs living room and found a whole patch of black and green mold spreading on the wall behind it, probably from a hidden AC leak. I'm really worried about their health and what else might be hidden. What's the best way to get a proper mold inspection done here to make sure we find and fix everything?

Hidden mold from an AC leak is a common issue in Dubai villas due to the high humidity and constant cooling cycles that cause condensation. A proper inspection for a case like this, especially with health symptoms involved, requires a professional assessment to identify the full extent of the problem, including the source of moisture and any mold in hidden cavities like walls or AC ducts.

The best approach is to hire a certified indoor environmental professional. They will conduct a thorough visual inspection using tools like moisture meters and borescopes to see inside walls. Crucially, they should perform air and surface sampling. This sampling is sent to an accredited microbiology lab (like the one we operate) to identify the specific mold species, which determines the health risk and necessary remediation steps.

Avoid companies that offer a "free visual inspection" and immediately push for a large, expensive remediation job without providing verifiable lab data. A legitimate inspector’s goal is to give you a detailed report documenting the contamination levels, the moisture source, and a clear scope of work for a remediation company to fix it. This evidence-based report is what you need to ensure the problem is solved completely and your family's health is protected. After remediation, a post-clearance test is essential to confirm the space is truly safe.
