Best product to remove bathroom mold in Dubai grout?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived in our Jumeirah villa for 2 years and just noticed these black and greenish spots spreading in the grout between the bathroom tiles. It’s our main bathroom with no window, so it doesn't get much ventilation. What is the most effective product I can find locally to get rid of this for good?

For grout mold, a concentrated hydrogen peroxide cleaner (like HG Mould Spray) or a chlorine-based solution (like Domestos Bleach Spray) from local supermarkets is effective. Apply, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then scrub with a stiff brush. The key is ventilation; run the bathroom exhaust fan for at least 30 minutes after every shower to let humid air escape.

In a windowless Dubai bathroom, the underlying issue is persistent high humidity from showers condensing on cool tiles. Even with AC, this micro-environment stays damp. Products only remove visible growth; without addressing moisture, it will return within weeks.

For a recurring problem, assess the exhaust fan's performance—it should powerfully pull air. If growth is extensive or has penetrated behind tiles, a professional inspection can identify hidden moisture sources. In many villas, the sealant around the bath needs replacing to prevent water ingress into the walls, which is a bigger issue than surface mold.
