Black spots in a corner behind furniture are a classic sign of a condensation and mould issue, very common in Dubai's humid climate. For a small area (less than one square meter), you can attempt DIY. First, move the headboard away from the wall to allow air to circulate. Wipe the area with a diluted white vinegar or a dedicated mould remover solution—never use bleach, as it only discolours the surface and does not kill the root structure. Wear an N95 mask and gloves. After cleaning, identify and address the moisture source. Ensure your AC is running efficiently and consider using a standalone dehumidifier in that room, especially during the more humid months.

However, given the villa's age and that the damp feeling is persistent, the issue is likely inside the wall cavity and not just on the surface. Wall condensation often indicates a deeper thermal bridging or insulation problem. DIY cleaning will only remove the visible growth, not the underlying cause, and it will almost certainly return.

A professional inspection is recommended. They use thermal imaging cameras to identify the exact cold spots and moisture meters to quantify the dampness within the wall. This is crucial for a permanent fix, which may involve improving wall insulation or adjusting HVAC balance. They can also take a tape lift sample for lab analysis to confirm the mould type, which is important for determining the appropriate remediation protocol. For a recurring issue of this nature, a professional assessment is the most effective course of action.
