Black mold in bathroom: professional cleaning cost in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed black mold spots spreading in the corners of our master bathroom, especially behind the toilet where it's always a bit damp. I tried cleaning it with bleach but it came back worse within a couple of weeks. I'm in an older building in Bur Dubai and I'm worried about the cost. Is this a job for a professional cleaning company, and roughly how much should I expect to pay for a standard bathroom here in Dubai?

Black mold recurrence after bleach cleaning indicates a deeper moisture issue that surface cleaning won't solve. In Dubai's high humidity, bathrooms without adequate ventilation become perfect environments for persistent mold growth, especially in older Bur Dubai buildings where ventilation systems may be underpowered.

For widespread or recurring mold, professional assessment is recommended to identify the moisture source—often inadequate sealing, plumbing micro-leaks, or insufficient exhaust. Professionals should perform antimicrobial treatment followed by protective sealing to prevent regrowth. The cost varies significantly based on the infestation's extent and required repairs, but building age often increases complexity.

Before hiring, verify the company provides a detailed moisture assessment and post-remediation verification, not just cleaning. Reputable firms should explain their process clearly and may recommend follow-up humidity control measures, which are crucial in Dubai's climate. Request an on-site assessment for accurate scope and cost; be wary of flat-rate quotes without proper inspection.
