Cost to fix black mold in Dubai bathroom?« Back to Previous Page

The grout between the tiles in our master bathroom in Jumeirah Park has turned black over the last few months, and no matter how much I scrub with bleach, it keeps coming back. I'm worried it's spreading behind the walls because the room always feels damp. What's the average cost in Dubai to get a professional mold remediation company to properly assess and fix this, and is it worth hiring someone or is there a DIY solution I haven't tried yet?

Black mold in bathroom grout is extremely common in Dubai due to the high humidity and condensation from showers. Bleach only removes surface discoloration; it doesn't kill the root structure penetrating the porous grout. If it returns quickly and the room feels persistently damp, there is a high chance of hidden moisture and growth behind the tiles.

For a proper assessment, a professional inspection using a moisture meter and borescope camera is needed to see behind walls. The cost for remediation varies significantly based on the extent of the damage. A small, contained surface cleaning is one price point, but if the mold has spread behind the walls, the project becomes a full demolition, removal of affected materials, and re-tiling, which is a more substantial investment.

Before hiring, ensure the company provides a detailed scope of work and verifiable proof of remediation, such as before-and-after lab air quality tests. For a long-term solution, address the source of moisture—this often means improving bathroom ventilation. Run the exhaust fan for at least 30 minutes after every shower and consider a dehumidifier. Without fixing the humidity, the mold will almost certainly return.
