How to find a mold inspector for a Jumeirah villa?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived in our Jumeirah villa for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black mold in the corner of the master bedroom closet, which is on an exterior wall. It’s been worse since the humidity spiked last month. I’m worried it’s spreading behind the walls. What’s the best way to find a mold inspector who can do a full assessment, including inside the AC ducts, to find the actual moisture source?

Look for a certified mold inspector who uses a combination of thermal imaging and moisture meters to detect hidden dampness, not just visible growth. In a Jumeirah villa with an exterior wall issue, the inspector must assess the wall cavity for condensation or a leak from the balcony above, as these are common sources.

Ensure they test the indoor air quality for spore counts and include your AC system. Dubai's high humidity causes AC drain pans and evaporator coils to be primary mold reservoirs, which can spread spores throughout the house. A comprehensive assessment should cover these units and the ductwork.

Verify their credentials; look for IICRC-certified professionals or those with equivalent qualifications. They should provide a detailed report with lab results from an accredited microbiology lab identifying the mold species and spore concentration levels. This is critical for understanding the actual health risk and planning remediation.

Avoid companies that only do a visual check or immediately quote a large remediation job without diagnostic data. The goal is to find the moisture source first—without fixing that, any mold removal will be temporary. Reputable inspectors focus on the cause, not just the symptom.
