Urgent: Mold in Dubai AC causing cough, need inspection?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in my apartment in Jumeirah Village Circle has been making us all cough for the last couple of weeks, and I just found a patch of black spots behind the bedroom curtain. With this humidity, I'm worried it's spreading quickly through the walls. How urgently do I need to get a professional mold inspection done here in Dubai?

With those symptoms and visible growth, a professional inspection should be scheduled within the week. The combination of high humidity and constant AC use creates a perfect environment for mold to proliferate behind walls and in ductwork, especially in JVC.

The persistent cough is a significant indicator that the spores are airborne and affecting your indoor air quality. In Dubai's climate, hidden condensation inside walls is common and allows mold to spread unseen. A proper inspection involves more than a visual check; it uses moisture meters and thermal imaging to find the source of the moisture and air sampling to identify the spore types and concentrations.

While awaiting inspection, keep the area well-ventilated and avoid disturbing the visible growth, as this can release more spores. The Dubai Municipality has clear guidelines on acceptable indoor air quality levels, and a certified inspection will provide the documented evidence needed for your landlord or building management to address the root cause, which is likely a leak or insulation issue.
