AC leak soaked carpet. Urgent professional cleaning needed?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in my apartment in Jumeirah Village Circle has been leaking a small amount of water onto the carpet for maybe a week or so. I just moved the unit and the carpet underneath is dark, damp, and has a really strong, earthy smell. With this humidity, how urgently do I need to get a professional cleaning service, or is this something I can handle myself over the weekend?

Based on the situation you've described, this is a serious issue that requires immediate professional attention. An AC leak in the JVC humidity for over a week has created a perfect environment for mold growth within the carpet, underlay, and potentially the subfloor. The dark discoloration and strong earthy smell are classic indicators of active microbial growth.

In the UAE's climate, mold can colonize in as little as 24-48 hours on a damp surface. DIY cleaning is strongly discouraged. Applying store-bought solutions or simply drying the surface will not address the root infestation. You will likely only bleach the visible surface mold while leaving the deeply embedded colony intact, allowing it to continue growing and releasing spores into your apartment's air, which can cause health issues.

We recommend you call a certified mold inspection and remediation company immediately. They will conduct a proper assessment, including moisture mapping and possibly air quality testing, to determine the full extent of the contamination. The remediation process will involve isolating the area, removing the contaminated carpet and underlay, professionally drying the subfloor, and performing antimicrobial treatment.

For a proper assessment and to prevent health risks, you should get this professionally handled. Call our experts at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com for an urgent consultation.
