Our apartment's AC in Al Nahda has been making a weird damp smell for a couple of weeks, and today I finally pulled the filter out to check. The entire plastic housing around the chiller unit is covered in black and green fuzzy mold, and it’s definitely the source of the smell. I’m really worried about my family breathing this in. Is it safe for me to try and clean this mold off the chiller myself with a store-bought spray, or do I absolutely need to call a professional HVAC company to handle it?
