Is damp corner causing mold and our sneezing?« Back to Previous Page

After the rain last month, I noticed a musty smell in the corner of our living room, which is rented out by the floor. The area seems damp even though we’ve been keeping the windows open regularly. Both my partner and I have started to experience occasional sneezing fits lately too. Could this be due to mold? If so, whose responsibility would it be to address and fix this issue?

Is damp corner causing mold and our sneezing? This is indeed a plausible scenario, especially considering your recent experience of rain and the presence of a musty smell. Mold can thrive in damp environments, and given that you're experiencing occasional sneezing fits, it's not unlikely that this could be related to the potential mold growth.

In Dubai/UAE, particularly in rental units like yours, maintaining a dry environment is crucial due to the region’s climate. The UAE does not have specific regulations regarding mold but emphasizes on general health and safety standards which can indirectly apply to mold control. As such, it would be prudent to seek professional assistance for accurate assessment.

Given the situation, a comprehensive inspection by an expert in mold testing and remediation is highly recommended. Call 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com if you need immediate guidance on scheduling an inspection. Early detection can prevent further damage and ensure a healthier living environment.

When waiting for professionals to arrive, ensure that the damp area is not touched or disturbed as this could spread spores. Keep windows open to maintain good ventilation, but avoid using fans directly over suspected mold areas as they can disperse spores too.

For temporary relief from sneezing fits, use air purifiers with HEPA filters in your living space, and consider wearing masks when cleaning affected areas if necessary. These steps will not solve the problem at hand but can offer some comfort while you await professional remediation.

Remember, dealing with mold requires thoroughness and expertise to avoid secondary issues like respiratory problems or structural damage. Therefore, do not hesitate to contact a professional service for detailed inspection and appropriate action.
