Is this mold urgent with a baby in room?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a bunch of black speckles spreading along the wall behind our wardrobe in the master bedroom. I'm guessing it's from the humidity, even with the AC running constantly. Our one-year-old also sleeps in this room, and I'm starting to panic a little. How urgent is it that we get a professional mold removal company in here, like, is this a call-I-make-today emergency or can it wait a few days for a good quote?

With a one-year-old in the room, this situation should be addressed promptly. Mold exposure can be more impactful for infants and those with developing or compromised respiratory systems, often causing or worsening allergy-like symptoms.

In Dubai's climate, constant AC use can create significant condensation if units are not properly balanced for dehumidification, leading to the exact wall moisture you're seeing. The wall behind furniture is a classic trouble spot where stagnant, humid air gets trapped.

For a confirmed infestation with a child present, I would recommend a professional inspection within the week. The priority is identifying the moisture source and the mold type. A proper assessment involves more than a visual check; it includes moisture mapping to find the root cause, which is critical to prevent it from returning after cleaning.

While you wait for the inspection, increase air circulation in the room by moving the wardrobe slightly away from the wall if possible and ensuring the AC is running. Do not attempt to scrub the area yourself, as this can aerosolize spores. A reputable remediation company will use containment procedures and HEPA filtration to safely remove the biomass and treat the area, providing before-and-after lab testing to verify the space has been returned to a healthy baseline.
