Mold removal cost for small Dubai bedroom?« Back to Previous Page

Our guest bedroom in Jumeirah has been feeling really damp lately, and we've started noticing small black spots in the corner behind the wardrobe. I think it might have started after that really humid spell we had a couple of weeks ago, but we only just moved the furniture. What's the average cost for professional mold inspection and remediation for a small room here, and is it something I can handle myself with products from ACE Hardware?

Good question. This is a common issue here in Dubai, especially in coastal areas like Jumeirah after a humid period. Those black spots behind the wardrobe are a classic sign of hidden mold growth, amplified by poor air circulation.

For a small bedroom (approx. 10-15 sqm), the cost for professional inspection and remediation can vary. A basic inspection with a moisture meter and thermal imaging to find the full extent of the problem typically starts around AED 500-800. If the mold is confirmed to be localized, the remediation cost itself could range from AED 1,500 to AED 3,500. This includes proper containment, HEPA vacuuming, antimicrobial treatment, and addressing the moisture source. The final price depends on the severity and if the drywall needs replacement.

While ACE Hardware sells DIY mold sprays, I strongly advise against it for your situation. Surface cleaning visible spots doesn't address the hidden mold within the wall cavity, which will just regrow. More importantly, improper disturbance can aerosolize spores, spreading the contamination and creating a health hazard.

Given the damp feeling and visible growth, this indicates a persistent moisture issue that needs professional diagnosis. We follow strict UAE guidelines from Dubai Municipality and the Civil Defence for safe remediation. For an accurate assessment and a fixed-price quote, it's best to get a certified specialist on site.
