Should I clean my AC vents myself or hire a pro?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing and I suspect it's the AC vents in their bedrooms in our villa in Al Barsha. I pulled the cover off and the amount of dust and grime inside is shocking. I want to clean them properly but I don't know where to start or what tools I need. Is cleaning the AC ducts a realistic DIY job for a weekend, or is this something I absolutely need to call a professional for?

Based on what you've described in your Al Barsha villa, this is a classic case we see often here in the UAE. The extreme dust and humidity create a perfect storm for AC duct contamination. While cleaning the visible vent cover is a manageable DIY task, a full duct cleaning is a different beast.

The grime you see is just the tip of the iceberg. The real issue is inside the sheet metal ducts themselves, which requires specialized equipment like high-powered truck-mounted HEPA vacuum units and rotary brushes that no homeowner has access to. A DIY attempt with a household vacuum and a rag will just push the contaminants deeper into the system, potentially making the air quality worse for your kids. Furthermore, improper handling can damage the fragile fiberglass duct liner or dislodge old asbestos tape, which is still present in some older Dubai villas.

Given the persistent coughing, a professional hygienization is strongly recommended. We are regulated by DM and DED guidelines, and a certified company like ours will not only perform a deep clean but also conduct a pre- and post-remediation air quality test to confirm the environment is safe for your family. For a proper assessment and to discuss solutions, please give us a call at 800-MOLDS or email hello@saniservice.com. Your children's health isnt worth the risk of an incomplete DIY job.
