Fastest way to permanently remove black mold from wall?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a bunch of black speckles growing along the bottom of the wall behind our bedroom wardrobe. We're in a ground-floor villa in Jumeirah and I'm worried it's from the humidity. What's the fastest way to get rid of this for good?

Permanent removal requires fixing the moisture source first. In Jumeirah's ground-floor villas, this is often rising damp or condensation from the AC. Simply wiping the mold away will not work; it will return if the wall stays damp.

For a small patch, clean it with a solution of white vinegar or a dedicated mold remover. Wear an N95 mask and gloves. Move the wardrobe to allow the wall to fully dry. A dehumidifier in the room can help significantly reduce the ambient moisture that fuels growth.

However, if the mold has spread behind the wardrobe or is recurring, the issue is likely inside the wall. The fastest and most permanent solution is a professional inspection to identify the exact moisture source—be it a hidden pipe leak, compromised damp-proof course, or inadequate ventilation. They can then perform targeted remediation, which may involve removing affected plaster and treating the wall cavity. In Dubai's climate, this comprehensive approach is the only way to prevent it from coming back.
